March in India is very hot with temperature rising up to 37ºC. Exams have already started for my elder son who is writing his Class 10 ICSE exams and classes still going on for my younger one. Made a visit to school few days in the past week and found the kids getting dehydrated very soon due to the heat. Elder son returns home at about 2-3pm in the late afternoons due to his exam schedule. Poor boy he reaches home so exhausted even after constant hydration at school. The moment they return home, i give them a fresh homemade juice which makes them feel lot better and refreshed.
Watermelons are nowadays are available in plenty in Palamudhir shops and even the street vendors have a lot of these fresh ones in store. Go grab your watermelons when they are fresh.
A must have Watermelon juice during Summer in India
- 3 cups Fresh Watermelon cubes
- 1 cup Water
- 5 Ice Cubes optional
Add fresh water melon to the blender and blend till water melon seeds just start breaking
Place a colander over a vessel and pour the blend water melon. Using a spatula, stir to drain the juice completely
Add the Left over water melon in the colander to the blender jar again with water and ice cubes and blend for a minute
Strain the blend water melon through the colander and extract the juice
Transfer water melon juice to serving glasses or mason jars. Add ice cubes if needed. Serve immediately
